Can South Florida Become a Bracket Buster?
With a perfect mix of both fast-paced offense and stout defense, driven by a budding star in Izaiyah Nelson, the South Florida Bulls are poised to make some noise in the NCAA Tournament.
🔥 Don’t Sleep on South Florida!
The Bulls are sitting at 18-8 and leading the American Conference, yet people are not talking about them enough as a March Madness threat.
Under first-year coach Bryan Hodgson, the Bulls have assembled a legitimate bracket buster. Star Izaiyah Nelson is averaging 16 points and 9.8 rebounds with 16 double-doubles, while the Bulls’ three conference losses came by a combined five points. They could easily be 13-0 in the American.
While running one of the quickest tempos in the country, with a tendency for getting to the free-throw line, South Florida has the profile to pull off a first-round upset and potentially make noise in the Round of 32. What’s my one concern? Depth. Their second unit drops off significantly, which could be exposed against power conference opponents.
